Behind the Bra

I never deliberately set out to understand the complexities that live behind a woman’s mask. When I launched Peachaus, I wanted to create lifestyle, a place where we celebrate creativity, freedom, human connection and build community.

But now I realise what I’ve walked into is something so much deeper.Every time I do a bra fitting, I ask one simple question: “How was your last bra fit?”

And in that moment, something remarkable happens. A woman I’ve often never met before drops her mask. She opens up her memories and past experiences to reveal parts of her story not just about bras, but about her life.

I hear,
“I haven’t had a bra fit since I was 18.”
“I’ve never had one.
”Or, if I’m lucky,
“I had one about three years ago.”

And then come the stories

Stories of awkward bra fittings, of the bras themselves, those things that accompany and cup her breasts day in day out, of Breast Cancer and survival. Of childbirth, menopause, and bodies that have changed. Stories of pain, bras that dig in, rub, feel like armour. Of coming home and ripping it off at the end of the day.

But they’re not just stories about bras. They’re stories about identity.

“I used to have a career. Now I’m a mother and I’ve lost who I am.”
“I’ve put on weight. I don’t like myself.”
And sometimes, through tears
“I just want to feel comfortable again.”

Then the magic happens, when I see her put on one of our bras, a bra that fits and she realises, maybe for the first time, what true comfort feels like. And suddenly, she stands taller.  Her often long forgotten femininity kicks in. Her energy shifts. She sees herself differently.

That’s when I realise:
We’ve been taught to accept discomfort, not just in our bras, but in our lives.

Through every fitting, I’ve come to understand that this work is about so much more than lingerie. It’s about sensuality, femininity. It’s about helping women reconnect to themselves as a woman, to their power, their purpose, their truth.
